Gites de France

The Gites de France website first appeared in 1998, offering self-catering and Bed and Breakfast accommodation throughout France, helping people to find their 'gite de france'.

It has grown now into a large portal website which offers viewers the ability to read the content in English and other languages.

Gites de France offer a 'ear of corn' rating system which is applied to all accommodation listed on the website, or in the Gite Guides available in print.

Gites de France have a team of approx 600 staff located in the 95 Departments throughout France.

The Federation Nationale des Gites de France, which encompasses all the various department branch offices, ensured that the following founding objectives were met:

Promote country holidays and breaks by developing quality accommodation

Match the requirements and needs of holiday makers seeking authentic, convivial holidays in natural settings, peace and quiet, novelty, and wide open spaces

Help to enhance and preserve the countryside and national heritage

Help the local population to prosper by providing additional resources

Contribute to local development by improving facilities for visitors
